Skill does not apply to most of it
A slot, a roulette wheel and a lottery draw have no skill component at all. They are priced so that a fixed share of everything staked stays with the operator, and studying them changes nothing. Even where skill genuinely exists, it does not remove the house’s cut. A skilled poker player still pays rake; a sports bettor with real judgement still pays the bookmaker’s margin. Skill changes who wins among the players. It does not change what the operator takes.
The belief that a chance game can be mastered — that a number is due, that a machine is warm, that a system works — is one of the more expensive ideas in gambling, and it is exactly the one this site exists to argue with.

- Losses get answered with bigger bets rather than a stop.

What actually holds
- Fix the ceiling in advance — an amount and a clock — and count that money as gone the moment you start.
- Turn on what the operator already offers. Deposit caps, reality checks, cooling-off periods and self-exclusion are all live the second you set them.
